How would you respond to these questions?
1. Are you fulfilled in your job?
2. Is your life fulfilling?
3. Are your days fulfilling?
4. When your days are fulfilled, what will you do next?
(After you think about these questions and comment on them, if you wish, look up translations of 2 Samuel 7:12 and comment on any phrase in those translations that matches any phrase in the questions above.)
I have been fulfilled in my job, you see I have been fortunate in my life to since I was 15 years old to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but because of a disability I have been forced to take a break. I miss it so much.
Right now I am getting plenty of rest, I call people that are sick in our church and pray with them, and I am active in the Sunday School Class.
Yes my days are fulfilling I read and study; (2Ti 2:15 KJV) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. I take this serious, because over the years I believed that I must be faithful and study and put something in my heart (brain) so when the opportunity came God would know my faithfulness and take something out.
I will do whatever it is that God has planned if it’s the pastorate again I will go or teach or fill in. God has a plan and He has never forgotten me and He will continue to use me until time to die and go home to heaven, I’m not worried I don’t feel like my home in Heaven is finished, according to (Joh 14:2 KJV) In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (Joh 14:3 KJV) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. When my time and place is finished God will come for me.
Now I know the scripture is about David and about a successor, but in relations to my life, my wife have 4 children and three are active in their churches, a deacon, a part time missionary. But let me get really serious I have done the best I can to plant seeds along my way as a pastor I have seen God call 7 young men into the ministry, and I can’t remember how many people God has saved through the ministry He gave me. So even while I am alive I see seeds of the ministry that God has given me, not worried I am fulfilled in Jesus Christ. A Scripture to follow is John 3:30 “He must increase, but I must decrease.”
